Whalers defeat Firefighters, win second straight

Portland, Maine - In a commanding ice hockey game, the Whalers faced off against the Portland Firefighters, ultimately triumphing with a final score of 7-1.

The Whalers set the tone early in the game, securing a 2-0 lead in the first period. Dylan Putnam opened the scoring at 3:46, followed by Mitch Petracca's goal at 1:28, assisted by Dan Hodge.

The second period continued to be dominated by the Whalers, who added three more goals to their tally. Joe Pichette found the back of the net at 11:58, making it 3-0. Jeff Nawfel extended the lead to 4-0 with a goal at 05:14, assisted by Joe Pichette and Ayden Smalley. However, the Portland Firefighters managed to respond as Oliver Silverson scored at 04:19, closing the gap to 4-1. The Whalers weren't done, though, as Hayes Sawyer added another goal at 03:08, assisted by Dale Campbell and Dan Hodge, bringing the score to 5-1.

In the third period, the Whalers continued to dominate the game. Matt Burns scored on the power play at 03:41, assisted by Ayden Smalley and Dylan Putnam, making it 6-1. Joe Pichette added his second goal of the game at 03:13, sealing the victory at 7-1 in favor of the Whalers.

The shot count reflected the Whalers' dominance, with them outshooting the Portland Firefighters 33 to 17.
