Ice Dogs, Wharf Rats "excited" for inaugural seasons
Portland, Maine -- Tonight's 9:20 game features two expansion teams that will begin their inaugural campaigns in the Chickadee Hockey League.
Both teams are expected to take the ice with full rosters. The Ice Dogs have named Jason Bisbing as their Opening Night starter with Parker Campbell backing him up.
We anticipate this to be a close-knit matchup after reviewing the rosters, in which include former or current CHL players who have jumped ship from their former teams. The Ice Dogs will look for veteran leadership from three season forward Peter Magadini, who was previously rostered with the Whalers. Along with Magadini the Dogs will gain playoff experience players including Chad Marescalchi and Nathan Vahey (who is questionable for tonight's matchup).
The Wharf Rats feature a roster full of newcomers to the Chickadee Hockey League, though captained by Chance Everett who had a small stint with the Huskies this past winter. Along with Everett features two core players Sean Sullivan and Derek Barden who can be difference makers for the Rats. Between the pipes for the Rats is expected to be Nate Loubier.
