Chicks Pick Up First Win of Season

Portland, October 5, 2023 – The Chicks hockey team secured their first victory of the season in impressive fashion as they defeated Gongshow with a final score of 6 - 3 on October 5, 2023, at the William B. Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.

The game, marked by high-energy play and notable individual performances, showcased the Chicks' determination to get their first win of the season. Here's a breakdown of the thrilling match:

First Period:

Gongshow's James Neal opened the scoring, putting his team ahead 1 - 0 early in the game. The Chicks faced an early deficit but were far from discouraged.

Second Period:

The Chicks came alive in the second period, with Cam Spicer leading the charge. Spicer netted the first goal for the Chicks, leveling the score at 1 - 1. The Chicks continued to dominate the period, as Chad Marescalchi and Cam Spicer found the back of the net, pushing their team to a 3 - 1 lead. Jacob Johnson extended the Chicks' lead to 4 - 1.

Third Period:

Gongshow made a late-game push, with Pete Stauber scoring to make it 4 - 2. However, the Chicks maintained control of the game.
